GALILEO Timeline

GALILEO launched on September 21, 1995, initially serving USG institutions, with additional institutions added in 1996 and 1997. Usage was about 5 million transactions in 1996. EBSCO databases added in 1997. GIL added in 1997 and GOLD in 1998. Switched to vendor interfaces in 1999. The New Georgia Encyclopedia project was announced in 1999. Pines implemented in 1999.
